From our office in Padang we have several dedicated orang utan watching tours a which include some gentle white water rafting. If even gentle white water rafting is not your forte then this can be replaced with more orang utan spotting.

07 DAYS ORANGUTANS, ELEPHANTS + WHITE WATER RAFTING
Day 1 Arrive in Medan (LD)
Drive westward for about 2,5 hours to Bahorok passing through several small towns, rubber palm oil plantations and beautful landscape. Overnight stay in Pan Eco in the jungle on the banks of the Bohorok river.
Day 2 Orang Utans Expedition (trekking) (BLD)
Follow the riverbank to the crossing point and cross the river by a small canoe to the sanctuary. Visit Orang Utans Sanctuary at Bukit Lawang. Hike up the hill through the rain forest to the feeding site for the Orang Utans. Continue into the heart of the Sumatran rainforests, home to many diverse and exotic species of flora and fauna. Afternoon back to Pan Eco Lodge.
Day 3 Off Road to Tangkahan (BLD)
Today we will explore another side of Leuser National Park . We will take a 4 x 4 for about 3 hours before crossing the river with a canoe to arrive at Tangkahan. After lunch we will explore the jungle on elephant back. You will overnight stay in a simple guesthouse with ensuite faclities but no hot water yet.
Day 4 Leuser National Park (BLD)
Early in the morning we will take a 2 hours trekking where you will see various of flora, monkeys and birds. You can take a natural hot spring water bath before lunch. Afternoon back to Bahorok with the Land Rover again.
Day 5 White Water Rafting (BLD)
Bahorok - Rafting over Wampu river. After breakfast we transfer you by car to Mariki, the starting point of your Wampu river rafting experience. This Wampu river rafting trip is a fascinating adventure with many grade 2 rapids.You will raft with local guides. The trip takes about 4 hours downriver. Enjoy the beautiful nature, sailing on a wide jungle river in the midst of an unspoiled impressive rainforest. All around you can see and hear the tropical wildlife. Half way we will make a stop at a waterfall where you can take a fresh shower and lunch in the open air. After lunch you will continue the rafting for about 2 hours before returning to Bahorok and overnight stay in Pan Eco Lodge.
Day 6 Interaction with students and local people (BLD)
Opportunity to see at first hand the villagers life here including a school visit and a local market. Afternoon back to the lodge with a further opportunity to see the orangutans.
Day 7 The End of Tour (B)
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your next destination.
